The History of ODNJ

ODNJ (Organization Development Network Japan) was established as a non-statutory body in 2010 based on a study group that had been meeting on organization development (OD) since 2005.

These OD study group meetings had been held 50 times over 5 years before the establishment of ODNJ. About 10 members—OD researchers, OD consultants, and OD practitioners from companies—gathered monthly for this study meeting.
After its establishment as a non-statutory body, the size of ODNJ expanded rapidly. Two symposiums and annual general meetings were held. Then, in 2014, Professor Toshihiro Kanai from Kobe University was appointed Chair and ODNJ held its first international meeting with over 400 participants.
ODNJ became an NPO in April 2015, an important milestone in our young history.
In April 2016, Professor Kazuhiko Nakamura from Nanzan University was appointed Chair and Professor Kanai assumed the role of Advisor.
