For over 25 years Larry Dressler has helped people in organizations and communities mobilize their collective insights, commitment, and energy to make a positive difference in the world. He is a skilled designer and convener of high-stakes conversations and an advisor to leaders who seek to weave candor, creativity, and collaboration into the fabric of their organizations.
Larry’s work has brought him to such diverse setting such as the headquarters of companies in 30 industries, an industrial disaster site, and a solar-powered chocolate factory in the Amazon rainforest. His clients have included Nike, Facebook, Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Cisco Systems, Starbucks, Baxter Health Care, New Belgium Brewing, Nissan Motors, Mitsubishi, 1% for the Planet, and the United States Federal Protective Service.
Larry is the author of Consensus Through Conversation: How to Achieve High Commitment Decisions (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 2006) and Standing in the Fire: Leading High-Heat Meetings with Clarity, Calm, and Courage (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 2010). His books have been translated into 5 languages, including Japanese.
In recent years Larry ‘s work with individual leaders, organizations, and communities is aimed at fostering a more just society, restoring the natural environment, and creating a more sustainable economy. As a social innovator, Larry co-founded Reading Village (www.readingvillage.org) with his wife Linda. Reading Village works with rural Mayan communities to move out of poverty by promoting youth leadership and children’s literacy.
In 2013 Larry received the Global Facilitation Impact Award from the International Association of Facilitators, one of the profession’s highest honors.
